"There's always something good on TV. It's been my motto since I was a little kid; I'm sticking to it." ~Everwood
Regardless, there's always something on! And some of it's actually worth watching!
TUESDAY
8pm
No Ordinary Family ABC, premieres 9/28
Uh, a live version of The Incredibles? SOLD! A typical American family imbued with abilities after their plane crashes into the Amazon River, starring Michael Chiklis (of Fantastic Four, but he’ll always be “The Commish” to me) and Julie Benz, who I always find delightful, whether she is playing the living dead (Darla) or the only recently dead (Rita). Again, SOLD!
NCIS CBS, premieres 9/21
Where we Left off: Abby discovers Gibbs’ secret connection to some guy in Mexico, Gibbs was captured, and some chick…Okay, I quit. How is this one of the #1 rated shows??? Almost 20 million people watch this and I don’t know ANY OF THEM. There is a time and a place for subpar yet inoffensive programming and it’s not primetime on one of the Big 5 networks …. It’s at random times during the day on USA, between “Walker Texas Ranger” and “L&O: Criminal Intent”. Look I like Mark Harmon too and have always thought the guy who played Tony was somewhat attractive, even back in the days of “Dark Angel”. Oh man, remember “Dark Angel”? Jessica Alba was such a badass, and Michael Weatherly made a WHEELCHAIR hot and then they added Jenson Ackles and the hotness increased tenfold. Where was I? Oh yeah. “NCIS” is dumb.
One Tree Hill CW, premieres 9/14
It defies all logic and reason that this show is still on. I mean, we are talking a level of crazy that resembles that time the CW finally put "7th Heaven" out of its (OUR) misery and then inexplicably brought it back for another season! I don’t deny that one year I watched OTH, but that was back when the main characters were all still on it and there were killer nannies chasing people through cornfields and dogs stealing peoples donor hearts and that guy Skillz was having sex with Nathans mom, who reminded me of my Aunt Nancy. Anyway, I have nothing good to say about this show, so perhaps it is best that I say nothing at all. Whoops, too late...
Glee FOX, premieres 9/21
Where we left off: Quinn had her baby and it was immediately adopted by Rachel’s bio mom. New Directions lost at Sectionals but Sue saved the club, so now they are back for another year of slushings.
What’s next: Two words: Uncle. Jesse. Then add Britney, a Rocky Horror ep, a boyfriend for Kurt, and the return of La Chenoworth.
Biggest Loser NBC, premieres 9/21
Expect more of the same! Heavyweights slowly becoming less heavy. Bob and Dr. Phillian administering some tough love. And out-of-control Product Placement (I couldn’t live or walk down the street or take a breath without my JENNIE-O TURKEY!)
9pm
Dancing with the Stars Results ABC, premieres 9/21
Bor-ing! On the off-chance anything interesting happens, they’ll show it on The Soup
NCIS: LA CBS, premieres 9/21
Seriously? If I had nothing good to say about "NCIS: THE MOTHERSHIP," do you really think I’m going to effusively complement the craptacular spin-off, which BY THE WAY stars LL Cool J? One thing I will effusively complement is the apparent addition of Eric Christian Olsen to the cast, who is contractually obligated to be nothing less than adorable, everywhere, always.
Life Unexpected CW, premieres 9/14
Where we Left: Cate and Ryan got married. Lux had a ridiculous name.
Up Next: This show is back for a 2nd season, whether it should have been or not! Despite her nuptials, Cate is still unsure about what she feels for Baze. In other news, more than half the people of this show have RIDICULOUS names. Also, apparently there is a “One Tree Hill” crossover in the works. God help us.
Raising Hope FOX, premieres 9/21
This is from My Name is Earl creator Greg Garcia, who had a pretty good handle on wacky obscure humor and throwaway jokes. Anyway, it’s about a 23-year-old single dad, raising a baby with the “help” of his mother Martha Plimpton (Andie’s BF from “Goonies”) and grandmother Cloris Leachman (who works really hard for a woman of 145).
9:30
Running Wilde FOX, premieres 9/21
Its from Mitch Hurwitz, who gave us “Arrested Development”, and its starring Will Arnett (the smoothest voice in Hollywood, and Mr. Amy Poehler) and David Cross (“Mr. Show”, “Arrested Development”’s most beloved Never-Nude, and most importantly, the principal in the Amanda Bynes comedy “She’s the Man”). How could this show not be perfect in every way? Well, according to early reviews of the pilot, they found a way. Booo. LAME.
10pm
Detroit 1-8-7 ABC, premieres 9/21
Despite the fact that Michael Imperioli bugs (oh don’t lie, he bugs you too) I admit he is talented – I actually thought he was the best thing about “Life on Mars” (oh yeah THAT’S what happened to Gretchen Mol!). Anyhoo, this has got great buzz (TWOP called it “Network cop drama done right”). Basically it’s just the story of the people that are crazy enough to become cops in Detroit, the city with the highest murder rate in the country (oh man, for years I’ve been saying Gary Indiana was the Murder Capital…don’t I feel stupid).

HE BUGS! |
Where we left: Peter returned to politics, the law firm was possibly going under, and Alicia got a call from Will (with sexy consequences??). I stopped watching halfway through the season because, frankly, keeping tabs on the amount of shows I try to keep tabs on is exhausting. But it wasn’t bad, and it has that smarmy dicky hot guy who played Logan Huntzberger on "Gilmore Girls", and the Indian chick in it won an Emmy for best supporting actress. Anyhoo…
What’s Next: They are merging with another firm, and I will still probably cut this show again in 2 months because my DVR is full.
Parenthood NBC, premieres 9/14
Where we Left: This show was wobbling around the line, at times charming and realistic and at other times a cheesy snooze-fest. But Lauren Graham! Back on my TV! Be still my Loralai-lovin heart!
What’s Next: More of Jabbar who is a series regular. Also more Billy Baldwin, as LG’s new love interest. Ew.
OTHER:
SONS OF ANARCHY FX premieres 9/7
This is one of those shows I don’t watch that I already know I should be watching, so save it. There are only so many hours in the day and so much room on my DVR and do you understand how often The Real Housewives in on??? For fans that are watching – Peggy Bundy is still on the run, and that guy Jax is still not reconciled with Hellboy.
