"The only debate that we've ever had about
'Tommy Boy' is whether it's awesome
or super awesome. That's love, bitch."
~Lily, HIMYM
Dear How I Met Your Mother:
I thought you had changed. After the debacle of last year, when you said you were gonna buckle down, fly right, turn things around…I believed you.
And for a while, it seemed like you had rehabilitated yourself. Sure you weren’t How I Met Your Mother: Season One
or How I Met Your Mother: Season Two
, but it felt like you were trying. It was like that last minute of “Intervention” where you find out the addict made it through all of rehab and had a job and was sober and not having sex with guys for money to buy computer duster at Staples and huff it. I was proud of you.
And I’m still proud and everything, and I love how you guys handled Marshall’s dads death, but lets face it: some of these other episodes have been pretty weak. You don’t know what to do with Robin. Barney sometimes seems like he’s doing a cartoonish impression of himself. The Lily characterization varies widely with each episode’s writer. Ted still hasn’t met the f—kin mother. (Notice I have no complaints about Marshall. And I never will).
My point is, it only takes one huff of computer duster for an addict to fall off the wagon. I’m not sure how many episodes I’m going to give you before I start bemoaning “how good you used to be” all over again.
That being said, Lily’s line in the opener was in fact made of win. It almost redeemed how kind of awful she was the rest of the time….
And CBS, if you are reading this, a brief note re: "Mad Love" -

Remember me from Miss Guided??? |
I refuse to believe this is all Television can do for Judy Greer. She’s the best “best friend character” in the business and Mad Love is…well it’s not the worst show ever…but if it survives this season, it certainly one day could be. Judy Greer is way too awesome to believably hang out with these people. Find another TV best friend for them (perhaps Kimmie Gibbler? Or, I bet that Cockroach friend of Theo Huxtable is available) and free Judy Greer to go back to the big screen and make sarcastic yet supportive best friend comments to bigger stars than Sarah Chalke
PS – no offense to Sarah, I adore her, and she is also much much too good for this show. It’s just Judy’s superiority is more glaring…
